Stacklane

A mobile companion for a SaaS platform — the metrics that matter, notifications and approvals, team collaboration and account and billing self-service, all in your pocket. We shaped the product and designed it for iOS and Android, from a focused MVP to a scale-ready build.

Stacklane app — the metrics dashboard with usage, revenue and health at a glance

The context

The platform lives on the web. The decisions happen anywhere.

A SaaS platform earns its keep at a desk — dashboards, settings, the full workflow. But the moments that matter rarely wait for one: a metric spikes, an approval blocks a teammate, an invoice needs a decision, and the person who can act is in a meeting or on the move.

Stacklane puts the essential half of the platform in the hand: the numbers worth glancing at, the events worth a nudge, and the actions worth taking now — the rest can wait for the web.

The challenge

Fit a platform into a phone.

A SaaS product does a lot — and a companion that tried to do all of it on a small screen would do none of it well. The hard part is restraint: choosing the few flows that earn a place in a pocket, and leaving the rest to the web where there is room.

So we designed a calm, data-dense interface for people acting between other things: a dashboard you can read at a glance, notifications that surface only what needs a person, approvals answered in a tap, and account and billing changes done without a support ticket.

Skills

What we brought to it.

Product strategy

Deciding which slice of the SaaS platform belongs in a pocket — and what stays on the web.

UX / UI design

Flows, wireframes and a calm, data-dense interface for people acting between meetings.

Prototyping

Interactive prototypes to pressure-test the dashboard, approvals and billing flows.

iOS & Android app

One native-quality companion delivered on both platforms from a single codebase.

API integration

A secure API layer onto the existing SaaS backend, auth and data — no rebuild of the web.

Design system

A shared blue colour, type and component system across every screen.

What we built

Six things, one companion app.

01

Metrics dashboard

The numbers that matter — usage, revenue and health — glanceable on a phone, pulled live from the platform.

02

Notifications

Real-time alerts for the events that need a person: a spike, a failure, a request waiting on you.

03

Approvals inbox

Approve, decline or comment on the requests that would otherwise stall until someone got back to a desk.

04

Team collaboration

Assign, mention and hand off work so a decision does not wait on the one person who saw it first.

05

Account self-service

Manage the workspace, members and roles from the app — no support ticket for a routine change.

06

Billing self-service

View invoices, update the plan and payment method, and keep the subscription current without leaving the app.

Under the hood

One backend, two front doors.

The screens are simple; the plumbing is not. A companion app is only as good as its link to the platform — so Stacklane is designed around a secure API layer that reads live metrics and requests and writes back approvals, comments and account changes, keeping the phone and the web in sync.

Secure API layer

Onto the existing SaaS backend, auth and data — no rebuild of what already works on the web.

Real-time notifications

Push alerts for the events that need a person — a spike, a failure, a waiting request.

Approvals & write-back

Decisions taken on the phone flow straight back to the platform state.

Role-based access

What each member can see and do on mobile mirrors their role on the web.

Billing self-service

Invoices, plan and payment method managed in-app against the subscription.

Native iOS & Android

One product, both platforms, one design system.

Design system

One blue, a lot of clarity.

A single confident blue marks every action — approve, assign, pay, done — against clean white surfaces, so a dense dashboard reads as one clear next step at a time.

The outcome

A companion that keeps pace with the web platform — glance at the numbers, act on what needs a person, and manage the account, wherever the decision happens.

FAQ

About the concept.

What is Stacklane?

Stacklane is an illustrative concept — a mobile companion app for a SaaS platform. It brings a metrics dashboard, in-app notifications and approvals, team collaboration and account and billing self-service to iOS and Android, so users can act on the move instead of waiting for a desk. It is a sample case study showing how Namtech would approach a Technology & SaaS build, not a delivered client project.

What did Namtech build for Stacklane?

As a concept, Namtech shaped the product and designed the native iOS and Android companion end to end: a live metrics dashboard, real-time notifications, an approvals inbox, team collaboration, and account and billing self-service — connected to the existing SaaS backend through a secure API layer and unified by a single design system.

How would the app connect to an existing SaaS platform?

Through a secure API layer onto the platform’s existing backend, auth and data — so the app reuses what already works on the web instead of rebuilding it. The mobile companion reads live metrics and requests and writes back approvals, comments and account changes, keeping the phone and the web platform in sync.
